No. R-431. House concurrent resolution congratulating the Woodford
SnoBusters snowmobile club on its silver anniversary.

Whereas, over the past quarter century, snowmobiling has become an extremely popular winter recreational activity in Vermont, and
Whereas, at 2,300 feet, Woodford has one of the highest elevations in Vermont and receives ample snow for snowmobiling, and
Whereas, given its snowy and forested terrain, it was nearly inevitable that a snowmobile club would be established in Woodford, and
Whereas, in September 1984, the Woodford SnoBusters was established on the front porch of Joy and Jack McKenna’s home, and
Whereas, Joy McKenna served as the club’s first president while her husband, Jack, was the original trailmaster, John Fiori was vice president, Peter
Daigle took minutes as the secretary, and Doris Lemieoux kept a watchful eye on club’s finances in her role as treasurer, and
Whereas, the initial trail grooming was accomplished with snowmobiles and pipe drags, and

Whereas, the members pooled their money and purchased the club’s first groomer, a small track machine known as a Bombi, as well as a drag to supplement the Bombi’s work, and
Whereas, within a couple of years, the club’s grooming equipment proceeded through a series of upgrades, starting with the purchase of one, and then a second, LMC machine, and
Whereas, in time, the SnoBusters acquired a Tucker Sno-Cat, and the club ultimately established a top quality grooming fleet, consisting of several Pisten Bullys and a high-end trail groomer, and
Whereas, the popularity of the Woodford SnoBusters’ trail system is most importantly a testament to the thorough work its many volunteers perform
maintaining the trail system, as well as the great local snow fall and easy accessibility from the large population centers in southern New England and nearby New York state, and
Whereas, the club annually hosts its Very Special People Ride for snowmobiling enthusiasts who might not otherwise be able to participate in this popular Vermont pastime, and
Whereas, the Woodford SnoBusters, which recently celebrated 25 years in
operation and continues to thrive, is now Vermont’s largest VAST-affiliated snowmobile club, and serves as a model for other local clubs that belong to the
Vermont Association of Snow Travelers, Inc., now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:

That the General Assembly congratulates the Woodford SnoBusters on its silver anniversary, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Woodford SnoBusters’ President Mark Tilley.
