
Woodford SnoBusters Scholarship Awards Program
A.) Purpose
It is the intent of this program to provide financial assistance to deserving applicants who are seeking higher education.
B.) Applicant Qualifications
The applicant must be pursuing higher education beyond the secondary level at a College, University, Technical or Vocational School. Preference during the application process will be given to those applicants with majors in forestry, wildlife, outdoor recreation, or other careers that may relate to the future of snowmobiling directly or indirectly. Applicants must be a member of the Woodford SnoBusters (WSB) and/or a spouse, dependent of the member, and including those persons under the watch-care of the member.
C.) Program Rules
1. Each year there will be one or two scholarship awards awarded of $500 each.
*Applicants will be notified with the formal announcement of the successful applicant given at the WSB Annual Meeting. Changes in the dollar amounts available and number of scholarships awarded shall be established by the Board of Directors each year at the Annual Meeting.

2. Funding for the Scholarship Awards will be achieved by retaining $500 from the general fund. Carry-over scholarship funding from year to year should be held and dedicated in a separate fund account.
3. The Scholarship Award Committee should consist of two non-active, or non-WSB members and one WSB BOD member. The volunteer positions should be accepted by BOD vote at the Annual meeting for the following year.
4. The applicant and one family member must complete the two application forms as required by the WSB. Only completed applications with the two forms will be considered. Applications will be available on the WSB web site or by mail from the WSB Membership Chair.
5. Application requirements:
a. All applications should be postmarked no later than February 1ST of the current year. Applications received after that date will not be considered. forms
b. Successful applicants may again apply the following year by re-submitting new application
c. Official transcript from High School, College, Technical, or Vocational school.
d. Two letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, clergy, or others (community volunteer work, organization leaders, etc.) are required.
e. Proof of acceptance at a College University, Technical, or Vocational School.
f. An essay of 500 words or less that addresses one of the following issues:
-Preservation and protection of our environment as related to Snowmobiling
-How will you apply your education to the future benefit of the Outdoor recreation of snowmobiling
-What do you perceive as the most important issues facing The future of snowmobiling in Vermont (or elsewhere)?
g. The Scholarship committee shall establish a joint process for judging the applications. Attention should be given to grade point average (20%), participation in volunteer activities (20%), careers that may directly or indirectly affect outdoor recreation, forestry or other related subjects (10%), association and involvement of family to the WSB (10%), recommendations (10%), essay and over-all application (30%).
